Recently BenQ announced the renewel of its sponsorship for the Intel Extreme Masters 2012/2013. BenQ serves as the official gaming monitor sponsor for the elite global professional gaming tour organized by Electronic Sports League, which will take place in Europe, Asia and South America. And now we showed ourselves off at gamescom 2012 in Cologne, Germany. Gamescom is Europe's largest fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment. The fourth edition of gamescom, held from August 15th until 19th, ended on that Sunday with a great result. More than 275,000 visitors, including around 24,500 trade visitors from 83 countries, were excited to watch the IEM gaming tournament and also wanted to check out and experience the newest game releases, the hottest hardware peripherals and latest developments from more than 600 exhibitors.
At gamescom in Cologne, BenQ dominated in showing off more than 240 gaming monitors, of which 140 pieces at the IEM area and another 100 pcs at the ESL area. At the Intel Extreme Masters on gamescom, eight teams were competing with each other in League of Legends Season 2 in order to win first prize but also to secure themselves for the LoL Season 2 World Championships. The BenQ sponsored LoL team: M5.BenQ (well known as Moscow 5) was the true champion! And hopefully they can reclaim their IEM championship title of last year. In the finals at gamescom, M5.BenQ dominated over SK Gaming with a 2-0 victory score, the team dominated the tournament completely, terrorizing and destroying their opponents. SK Gaming surrendered quickly with a 15-1 kill deficit.
Also on gamescom, the gamers Daisy and GoOdy of BenQ’s sponsored SCII team ESC ICYBOX participated in 3 different tournaments for StarCraft II; ESL Pro Series Summer Season 2012 Cup, ESET Summer Masters 2012 and WCG 2012 Germany. Both Daisy and GoOdy performed well and made it to the finals to compete against each other in ESL Pro Series Summer Season 2012 Cup #6 with overall domination by Daisy. In the ESET Summer Masters 2012, Daisy managed to get the runner up place in the finals with an unfortunate loss against Tarra from team AI. While GoOdy also had to take his loss against DarKFoRcE from team Alternate with the 2nd place in the WCG 2012 Germany finals and therefore regretfully not able to get the qualification for the WCG.
And of course, BenQ’s first Intel Extreme Masters Ambassador of StarCraft II, Manuel “Grubby” Schenkhuizen was present at gamescom while he qualified through Open Bracket and Top 16 at IEM, but unfortunately did not make if further than the group matches. Still being a true ambassador, he promoted BenQ actively at gamescom with some PR related activities. For those true autograph seekers, BenQ held an autograph session at the Intel Extreme Masters trophy corners with the famous members of BenQ’s sponsored teams; ESC ICYBOX and M5.BenQ. The BenQ signing cards with details about our ultimate gaming monitor XL2420T were handed by some promo girls of BenQ. It was crowded with autograph seekers wanted to close to their most favorite players! On each event day, BenQ also organised a raffle at the IEM stage in order for the match spectators to win some cool prizes and nice give aways gadgets, like BenQ’s ultimate gaming monitor XL2420T and signed caps, lion cuddly toys, signed autograph cards and other gadgets. The raffle leaflets were spreaded by BenQ’s promo girls and M5.BenQ and Grubby warmed up the public and took the lucky draws.
