近年來，乳腺癌已漸漸成為女性健康中的“隱形殺手”。日益增多的乳腺健康宣傳，讓女性朋友越來越重視自身健康，多位女明星因罹患乳腺癌去世的新聞震撼世人的同時也引起了社會對於乳腺癌這一疾病的廣泛關注。
關愛女性健康，遠離癌症風險。自1月20日至3月20日，蘇州院區普外科開展乳腺公益篩查，近1500名女性朋友參與。普外科謝奇勳院長、吳聰明主任細心地為每一位參加篩查的女性朋友通過超聲波進行乳房檢查。
在本次篩查中，有近40%的女性檢查出小葉增生，20%女性檢查出有囊腫、腫瘤的現象。”平時自己檢查的時候察覺到有些硬塊，擔心會不會是乳腺癌“，這是來篩查的女性朋友們說的最多的一句話。經過這次的篩查，大部分人的結果顯示為良性囊腫，吳主任提醒她們不必過於恐慌，三個月、六個月的定期追蹤檢查是預防乳腺癌最有效的方法。其中，有一位女性朋友之前體檢有疑似乳腺癌的跡象，通過親友得知蘇州院區的乳腺公益篩查活動，便決定前來檢查,證實她確實罹患乳腺癌。隨後，她選擇在蘇州院區先由吳聰明主任進行乳腺癌根除手術治療，目前正在康復中。不僅如此，擅長腫瘤術後調理的中醫科周春祥博士也可為她的康復提供照護，多位乳腺癌患者均在他的中醫調理下獲得新生。
吳聰明主任提醒廣大女性朋友，乳腺癌早期無明顯症狀，由於對乳腺癌防治觀念不夠，發現時已是中晚期，治療的過程比起早期更為繁瑣複雜。早發現、早診斷、早治療是提高乳腺癌患者治癒率和生存品質、降低乳腺癌死亡率的關鍵，平時定期的追蹤檢查也是預防乳腺癌的關鍵。
In recent years, breast cancer has gradually become recognized in China as a major "silent threat" to women's health. The increasing publicity given to the issue has heightened women's awareness of their health, with media coverage of several celebrities dying of breast cancer alarming the public while arousing broad attention to this potentially lethal disease.
To demonstrate concern for women's health, and minimize the threat from cancer, from January 20 to March 20 Suzhou BenQ Medical Center's Department of General Surgery held free breast cancer screenings, and nearly 1500 women participated. Department of General Surgery physicians Chi-Hsun Hsieh, also president of the Hospital, and Cong-Ming Wu, head of the Department, used ultrasound imaging to examine each woman who participated.
In the process of screening, nearly 40% of the women were found to have developed breast lobules and 20% had signs of cysts or tumors. "When examining myself, I discovered some lumps, and I worried that it might be breast cancer" was the most frequently heard comment from the women who took advantage of the screening. The screening revealed that in most cases the lumps turned out to be benign cysts, and Dr. Wu reassured the women that there was no cause for alarm, reminding them that regular three-month and six-month followup examinations are the most effective method of guarding against breast cancer. Of the women who were screened, one woman had previously shown signs of possible breast cancer, and after a friend told her about Suzhou BenQ Medical Center's free breast cancer screening, she decided to take advantage, where breast cancer was indeed discovered. Afterwards, she decided to have Dr. Wu perform surgery to treat the condition, and is currently recovering. In addition, Dr. Chun-Xiang Zhou of the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who specializes in post-surgical tumor patients, is providing additional care. Many breast cancer patients have gained a new lease on life with the help of his Chinese traditional medicine therapy.
Dr. Wu reminds women everywhere that in its early stages, breast cancer produces no obvious symptoms, and because of insufficient awareness of breast cancer prevention, it is often only discovered after it has reached more advanced stages, when treatment is more complex than if the cancer is discovered and treated earlier. Early detection, diagnosis, and treatment is key to raising the rates of successful outcomes and improving quality of life, as well as of course reducing mortality. Regular screenings are obviously a critical part of reducing the risks of breast cancer.
