As the Global Gaming Monitor Supplier of Intel Extreme Masters Season 2012/2013, BenQ took part in the World Championship 2013 which was held from March 5th until 9th, 2013 in Hanover, Germany during CeBIT 2013 tradeshow. Almost 200 BenQ XL2420T and BenQ XL2411T gaming monitors were installed in Hall 23 bringing the highest level of professional gaming experience to world’s top gamers as well as their fans. Having a wonderful opportunity to be a part of gaming community and provide professionals with the best high-end solution for eSports, BenQ had chosen Intel Extreme Masters World Championship for the global launch of its new generation of ultimate gaming monitors XL Series. On the opening day, Tuesday March 5th, Emil ‘HeatoN’ Christensen, the Counter Strike Legend, made a live appearance at the BenQ stand in Hall 23 and presented the dedicated gaming features and highlights of the new monitor. Gaming fans were also invited to duel at the BenQ booth against renowned pro gamers. Also participants of the first ever tournament of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, exclusively hosted by Intel Extreme Masters during World Championship, were the first ones ever to put BenQ’s newest XL 27” gaming monitors to a professional hardcore test. Crowded at BenQ booth
Everyday our BenQ promo girls invited visitors to participate in daily raffles and as they could learn more about BenQ’s new XL2720T. On the second day, the custom made BenQ gaming monitors, specifically designed as MVP prizes, arrived at World Championship and took its place at SCII main stage. At BenQ booth there were various challenging tournaments on March 6th, 7th and 8th, respectively Joes vs Joes SCII tournament which ended with signing and photo events by Slivko from Virtus.pro. On Thursday BenQ booth held several Pros vs Joes activities with the participation of legendary LoL gamers from Gambit Gaming BenQ. The public went crazy for those celebrities and fans received a small signed card or photo or t-shirt or even BenQ gaming lion. On March 8th BenQ booth held Pros vs Pros activities: show games Slivko vs MaNa, including photo and signing events. Cool custom-painted BenQ XL2420T monitors for MVPs
The voting for Most Valuable Players (MVPs) was held on Saturday during the grand finals and everybody was anxiously and excitedly awaiting for the names who will get those amazing customised painted BenQ gaming monitors XL2420T. With the announcement of the MVP winners, the names of two winning gamers were added live on the custom-painted BenQ gaming monitors. The “Sickest Nerd Baller” title went to Grzegorz "MaNa" Komincz from Mousesports, team sponsored by BenQ. The MVP “I Carried CeBIT” title went this time to Shy from CJ Entus Frost. ESL and BenQ also left a memorable text on the monitors’ bezel which is dedicated to winners: “Thank you for your dedication, passion, skill. And for being awesome. You are an inspiration”.

StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm
On Friday March 8th it was time for the playoffs of Intel Extreme Masters World Championship 2013. In StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, a group of foreigners stepped into the ring to face the dominating Koreans. In the Polish duel between MaNa and Nerchio, the Protoss from team mousesports ended up victorious with a hard earned 3:2. The remaining three matches of the first playoff round all ended with 3:1. PartinG took down French superstar Stephano while Dutch Zerg ret took down Sting. First won the re-match of the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice final against Dream. MaNa had to face Mvp and was no match for him, losing 3:0. Afterwards PartinG faced YoDa and in a long and exciting series the latter was able to take down his fellow Korean with 3:2. In the finals, the games were dominated by members of the Korean team Incredible Miracle with all top 4 spots going to them. The winner was Choi "YoDa" Byung Hyun, beating the IEM Katowice champion Kang "First" Hyun Woo. The best StarCraft II player of all time, Jeong "Mvp" Jong Hyeon took third place together with Choi "YongHwa" Yong Hwa.
League of Legends
Two European teams Anexis eSports and Millenium were eliminated in the first round by Korean sister teams CJ Entus Blaze and Frost in the playoffs of League of Legends of Intel Extreme Masters World Championship 2013. Afterwards Frost had to face the reigning champion, Gambit Gaming. The Koreans showed that they want the title by winning the semi final against Gambit with 2:1. The final day on Saturday March 9th of the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship was an internal Korean affair in the League of Legends with CJ Entus Blaze and CJ Entus Frost meeting in the final. CJ Entus Blaze won the final 3-1. Third place went to Gambit Gaming from Russia and SK Telecom T1 from Korea.
Some facts and figures
Five thrilling and hectic days of Intel Extreme Masters World Championship 2013 and CeBIT 2013 has come to an end with some impressive facts and figures. The IEM website had its peak with daily more than 45,000 unique visitors while their streaming videos reached on daily basis more than 210,000 unique online visits in these 5 days. Meanwhile also Hall 23 at Deutsch Messe in Hanover was very well visited and packed with fans who did not want to miss any match or celebrity, as per day between 40,000 to 45,000 visitors entered the hall doors, so at least more than 200,000 fans could check out our newest XL 27” gaming monitor in action. Overall the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship 2013 was a true trending topic on the internet during the CeBIT 2013 days with a total reach of 4,168,268 and more than 55 million impressions, done by 9,172 contributors and 25,771 twitterers.
