This year BenQ Europe held its European Distributor Meeting in Pilanesberg National Park, South Africa. The four-day programme from April 23rd until 26th included a lot of exploring activities in order to spot the Big Five in various ways. One of the most remarkable and memorable activities was the notching of the rhinos within the Rhino Identification and DNA Collection Project as guests were very grateful for the unique chance to take part of this project. Guests really experienced that BenQ is committed to its slogan ‘because it matters’ by showing on the spot the social responsibility for the conservation of these endangered species. In total 42 most valued channel partners, their BenQ country heads and BenQ staff from all over Europe joined this event in adventurous South Africa to spend more time with each other to discuss beneficial opportunities to reach mutual growth and to attend BenQ Seminar for being fully updated about BenQ’s focus and business direction for coming years.

Meeting in the bush
It is still business before pleasure. So in the conference room of the luxurious Ivory Tree Lodge, BenQ presented its upcoming business direction by speaker Pete Wang, President of BenQ Europe. Dean Tsai, Hung Lin and Elise Cheng, all Business Line Managers, went more in detail about product management developments for respectively projectors and large format displays. Virginia Cheng, Director of Business Line Management showed some highlights of product management development of LCD monitors and of course the overall sales performance & future expectations of BenQ in Europe. In addition, the brand-new XR3501 curved LCD gaming monitor was presented to all guests, which included top managers of top European channel partners. Next to this, also the MH856UST projector, SU917 projector, treVolo speaker, Hatha lamp, PG2401PT monitor and XL2730Z gaming monitor were shown in the demo area of this conference room. After the seminar, all guests started with their adventure to spot the Big Five in the wilderness of Pilanesberg National Park.

Sleeping in the bush
Exclusively set up for BenQ, the guests slept in BenQ Tented Camp in Pilanesberg National Park, which was a fully exclusive luxury mobile ‘safari’ styled canvas tented camp. It created a memorable experience with nights under canvas, a warm log fire and the sound of the African bush. And early wake-ups to spot the Big Five.

Spotting the Big Five
The crater of a long extinct volcano is the setting of Pilanesberg, the National Park exists within transition zone between dry Kalahari and wetter Lowveld vegetation. A wide variety of rare and common species are living here, including the Big Five: lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo. The guest could spot these animals via various ways: game drives with open safari jeeps, walking safari by foot with knowledgeable rangers, bush flight in a small plane but also via an incredibly tranquil experience of hot air ballooning at early sunrise.

Notching the rhinos
A few years ago, the rhino status at Pilanesberg National Park reached its nadir of ‘critically endangered’, in order to protect and conserve the rhinos; the Rhino Identification and DNA Collection Project came in action. The guests had an unique chance to experience the notching of rhinos at the frontline and could even touch the rhinos while supporting the veterinarian. The notching is a technique where a specific pattern is cut into the ears which enables ground monitoring of individual rhinos, but also collecting DNA as part of National Rhino Project for evidence in case of rhino poaching. This project is one of the Pilanesberg Wildlife Trust's most important rhino protection projects.

Dipping in the water
Before BenQ’s European Distributor Meeting 2015 came to an end, the guests could enjoy some thrilling water activities at Sun City’s water park. Enjoying exclusive use of various water fun actions; like the jetovator which is a flying, steerable seat powered by two water nozzle levers, but also parasailing at a height of 35 meters or even jet-skiing and water-skiing.

All the guests are still able to remember this remarkable adventurous wild life experience in South Africa, as they could enjoy listening to some nice South African music on the world’s first portable Bluetooth speaker with electrostatic technology; the BenQ treVolo.
